What is CBD Isolate & How to Use it?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]CBD isolate is a versatile product that can be used in a variety of ways, and it is gaining popularity in Canada. Recent studies have shown that CBD is a natural and effective way to manage a range of conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, and  may help with sleep. In this article, we will explore the benefits of CBD isolate, how it is made, and how to use it, as well as some frequently asked questions about this popular product.

    What is CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate is a form of cannabidiol (CBD) that has been isolated from the other compounds in the cannabis plant, including the psychoactive compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CBD isolate is a crystalline solid or powder that contains over 99% of pure CBD. It is typically extracted from industrial hemp, which is a type of cannabis plant that is free from THC.

What are the benefits of CBD Isolate?

One of the main benefits of CBD isolate is that it is a highly concentrated form of CBD, so it can be an effective way to consume large amounts of CBD in a single dose. This can be particularly useful for people who need high doses of CBD to manage their symptoms. Additionally, because CBD isolate is pure CBD, it does not contain any THC, so it does not have the psychoactive effects that are associated with marijuana use. This means that people can use CBD isolate without worrying about experiencing a high or impairing their cognitive function.

    How is CBD Isolate made?

CBD isolate is typically made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant using a solvent such as CO2 or ethanol. The extract is then purified to remove any remaining plant material and other impurities. The final step in the process is to isolate the CBD from the other compounds in the extract. This is typically done using a process called chromatography, which separates the different compounds in the extract based on their chemical properties. The resulting CBD isolate is a pure, crystalline powder that can be used in a variety of products.

    Why people use CBD?

People use CBD for a variety of reasons. Some people use it to help manage chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia, while others use it for its potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. However, it is important to note that the effectiveness of CBD in treating these conditions has not been definitively established, and more research is needed. Additionally, it is always a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider before using CBD or any other supplement or medication.

How can you use CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate can be used in a variety of ways, depending on the product it is in. It can be added to oils, tinctures, and edibles to create a high-CBD product. It can also be used to make topicals, such as creams and salves, which can be applied directly to the skin. Some people also use CBD isolate by mixing it into their food or drink, or by placing it under their tongue.

Inhaling CBD may allow it to enter the bloodstream faster than other methods, but it is important to use caution when inhaling any substance. It is also important to use a vaporizer or inhaler specifically designed for CBD isolate, as inhaling the isolate in its pure powder form can be dangerous.

    Baking

Another way to consume CBD isolate is by incorporating it into baked goods. Keep in mind that heat can degrade the CBD, so it is important to bake at a low temperature and for a short period of time. It is also important to note that the effects of CBD when consumed in this way may take longer to be felt, as it must first pass through the digestive system before entering the bloodstream.

What is the price of CBD isolate in Canada?

The price of CBD isolate in Canada can vary depending on the source and quality of the product, as well as the amount you are purchasing. It is also possible that prices can range from around $20 for a single gram of CBD isolate to as low as $5 per gram for larger quantities. However, it is important to note that these prices are only estimates and may not be accurate. The best way to determine the current price of CBD isolate in Canada is to research and compare prices from different sources.

What is THC Distillate? Everything You Should Know

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

What is THC Distillate? This is a question that many people are asking, and for good reason. THC distillate is a type cannabis concentrate that is widely used in the industry, and it is quickly gaining in popularity. It is made by distilling THC from cannabis plant material. This results in a product that is over 90% pure THC. THC distillate can be used in a variety of ways, including making edibles. In this blog post, we will discuss what THC distillate is, how to make it, and how to use it!

    What is THC Distillate?

THC distillate is a type of cannabis concentrate that has been distilled in order to remove all compounds except from THC, resulting in a highly potent product that is nearly pure THC. Unlike other cannabis concentrates, distillates do not require any further processing such as decarboxylation to be used, making them a popular choice for those looking for a quick and easy way to consume THC. Because of their high potency, distillates are often used to make edibles, distillate carts for vapes, and other products that provide powerful relief from a variety of conditions. However, it is important to keep in mind that distillates can be up to 99% THC, so they should be used with caution by those who are new to cannabis or who have a low tolerance.

    How to make THC distillate?

Making THC distillate is a 4 step process that includes: extraction, winterization, decarboxylation and finally distillation.

    1. Extraction is the first step and it involves using a solvent to strip the THC from the plant material. The most common solvents used for this purpose are butane or propane.
    2. The next step is winterization, which removes impurities such as waxes and lipids. This is done by soaking the extract in alcohol and then freezing it.
    3. The third step is decarboxylation, which activates the THC. This is done by heating the extract in an oven at around 220 degrees Fahrenheit for around 45 minutes.
    4. Finally, the extract is distilled to remove any remaining impurities. This results in a clear, amber-coloured liquid that contains pure THC. Distillate can be used on its own or added to other products such as edibles or vape

Do you want to know more about THC tinctures? You are not alone; many people desire to learn more about it as well. Marijuana has been used for hundreds of years to treat a wide range of ailments such as insomnia, pain, nausea, loss of appetite, and other medical problems.

Tinctures were one of the earliest ways to use marijuana for medical purposes. THC tinctures are actual tinctures, not just marijuana-infused alcohol. In this article, I will define what THC tinctures are, discuss their benefits, how to make THC tinctures, and give you some tips on how to use them. So if you are curious about this cannabis-infused oil, keep reading!

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

    What is a THC tincture?

A THC tincture is a liquid extract or infusion of the cannabis plant that contains high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the psychoactive compound in marijuana that produces the “high” feeling. Tinctures are usually taken by mouth, and you can feel the effects within minutes.

THC tinctures are created by removing THC from cannabis with alcohol, oil, or another solvent and deposited it in a small container known as a glass vessel. One of the most popular types of cannabis products is THC tinctures. They’re created by extracting THC from marijuana with oil, alcohol or glycerin and depositing it in a small container known as a glass vessel.

THC tinctures have a long history of use for various medical conditions. They are effective for treating sleep disorders, muscle spasms, chemotherapy-induced nausea, and pain relief. THC tinctures are also non-addictive and have very few side effects. See below for the possible side effects after you take cannabis.

How to make a THC tincture?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”12717″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

THC tinctures are made by extracting THC from marijuana plants. This procedure can be done in several ways, but the most common method is to infuse the plant material in oil, this process also works for CBD Tinctures. The oil extracts the THC from the plant material and creates a potent oil that can be taken by mouth.

Familiarize yourself with the legislation before producing a tincture. Cannabis plants containing less than 0.3 percent THC are lawful in the US; however, cannabis containing higher THC levels is federally banned and can only be utilized in specific states. However in Canada you don’t have this problem as it has been legalized at federal level. Before purchasing cannabis, check out your local laws.

To prepare a tincture, gather the following ingredients:

    • A dropper for medicine
    • Flower of cannabis
    • Oil (MCT, Coconut, Olive, Hemp…)
    • A colander
    • A jar with an airtight top
    • A blender for herbs
    • An oven

    Tincture preparation

    1. Using a grinder, ground the cannabis.
    2. Heat the flower in the oven for one hour at 220 degrees Fahrenheit to decarboxylate it.
    3. In a jar with a tight-fitting lid, soak the pulverized, decarboxylated flower in ethanol, three to five portions of ethanol to one part flower.
    4. Shake two to three times a day to blend and store in a cool, dark, dry area for 14 days.
    5. Using a coffee filter or screen, strain off the flower and store the tincture in a bottle with a medicine dropper.

Before using, please reserve it in a cool, dry area and give it a good shake.

Decarboxylation is the heating process of cannabis in order to change the THCa molecule (non-active) into the psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

    The Benefits of THC tinctures

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”15073″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]THC tinctures have a long history of use for various medical conditions. They are effective for treating sleep disorders, muscle spasms, chemotherapy-induced nausea, and pain relief. THC tinctures are also non-addictive and have very few side effects. See below for the possible side effects after you take cannabis.

For some people, THC tinctures are used for recreational purposes. THC tinctures are quickly absorbed under the tongue and do not need to be swallowed whole, as many other methods of ingestion do. THC tinctures are generally manufactured from premium cannabis. They are available in orally or sublingually delivered liquids in assisting pain reduction.

    Other benefits include:

    • It is hard to notice THC tinctures: while many users enjoy smoking cannabis, THC tinctures provide an amount of confidence that smoking does not. Tinctures have no discernible odour when used, and you can take your tincture prescription anytime you want without anybody realizing it. As an aside, because tinctures are essentially through the mouth, they are preferable to smoking cannabis for health or pulmonary reasons.
    • Tinctures may have a quicker and more efficient effect: Tinctures can give faster effects than other cannabis products like edibles when taken at the bottom of the tongue. For example, an edible takes a long time to produce effects since it must first pass through your digestive system before distributing it to your bloodstream.
    • Tinctures are great for edibles: Tinctures are also great for adding to your own homemade edibles such as DIY Weed Gummies, Brownies or Cookies and can be combined with meals if wished. You could as well apply THC tincture to your skin.

    THC Tincture Dosage Guide

Refer to our Edible Dosage Chart by Weight for complete information about THC Dosage. The effects of a tincture vary depending on the quantity; some persons have no psychoactive effects because they ingest too few grams per dose, while others may experience extreme pleasure if they take more than is advised for their weight. If you are new to THC tinctures, you most likely have a lot of questions. You might be wondering, “How much marijuana should I take?” When should I use a tincture?

While these are natural questions, there is no one answer that applies to everyone. You will have the best experience if you customize how you use the tincture based on your personal experience with various THC tincture doses and why are you taking the tincture? The main guideline is, to begin with, to moderate intensity and gradually increase it to meet the optimum effects. For example, as a beginner, you can take 5-10 mg of THC.

How long does THC tincture take to kick in?

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”15062″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]A THC tincture’s effects might be felt within minutes. Typically, the effects last for several hours. The length of time it takes for the effect to kick in depends on how the tincture is used. The effect starts 15 to 30 minutes later when placed under the tongue. The impact will be noticeable 30 minutes to 2 hours after swallowing.

Most people choose to consume tinctures by placing a small amount under their tongue for 1 minute before swallowing, and this allows tetrahydrocannabinol to circulate more quickly through your tongue capillaries. However, we advise that you wait at least one hour before taking more because for some people THC Tinctures (or edibles) take longer to kick in compared to smoking flowers.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Risks & Side effects of Cannabis Tinctures

Cannabis products are largely safe and non-toxic, though there is always the risk of experiencing an uncomfortable side effect. The risk of dangerous THC overconsumption is more likely with tinctures and edibles as the body does not give anyone warning signs. By the time any signs o overdoses are apparent, it’s too late.

Side effects of Cannabis and Tinctures:

    • Low blood pressure
    • Rapid breathing
    • Muscle spasms
    • Elevated heart rate
    • Anxiety or paranoia
    • Nausea

Less common side effects that may occur are:

    • Short term memory loss
    • Hallucinations

Deposit your herbal tincture in a dark bottle, irrespective of what your tincture comprises. Tinctures lose power once illuminated, heated, or moisturized, so keep them in a dry, dark, temperature-regulated place like your storeroom.

You do not keep your tinctures in the window seal of your car during the hot summer or the cold winter.

Mike Tyson’s Edibles: Where to buy “Mike Bites” in Canada?

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Forget about Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out! The former heavyweight champion is getting into the cannabis edibles business with his new brand, Mike Bites. These THC gummies will be available in California dispensaries in mid-march 2022. Tyson has been a longtime supporter of cannabis, and he even has his own line of cannabis products called Tyson Ranch.

As you may have guessed, these new cannabis edibles are shaped like ears but lack a portion of the edible entirely, this is in reference to Tyson’s boxing bout in which he took a bite out of Evander Holyfield’s ear.

Some of the new “Mike Bites” are also being dubbed “Holy Ears,” and they’re already receiving high evaluations from people who’ve had a chance to try them, with one describing them as not only delicious but also efficient. Each bag of mike bites include 10 gummies of each 10mg THC for a total of 100mg of THC.

What is Mike Tyson’s motivation for selling Cannabis Edibles?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”15793″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

The answer is both personal and professional. Tyson has spoken openly about his struggles with addiction and mental health, stating that cannabis has helped him immensely. He’s even gone as far as to say that marijuana saved his life. In addition to the therapeutic benefits that cannabis provides, the edibles market is currently booming.

Tyson is following in the footsteps of other celebrities who have created their own cannabis-related items and brands. In 2015, rap artist Snoop Dogg released “Leafs by Snoop,” a branded line of marijuana goods. Similarly, in 2019, hip-hop artist Drake revealed he was partnering with a Canadian cannabis firm to start up an edible company.

Mike has also branched out into the Cannabis sector over time. Mike’s 418-acre cannabis-themed resort is just one of his many ventures in the industry. He plans to establish a “Tyson University” dedicated to educating people about growing marijuana and hemp cultivation, which will be opened in the near future.

Are you curious how long cannabis edibles will last in your system? With edibles, the high does not kick in for about 30 minutes to 2 hours and usually peaks at around 2 to 4 hours (not the smoke high peak). Effects can last between 4-12 hours depending on the dosage and your tolerance to THC. Some People can still feel the effects up to 24 hrs after use, especially beginners that took a large dose. This means you could be affected the next day!

However it is important to note that people metabolize cannabis at different rates, so there is no definitive answer to this question. However, medical cannabis administration research and anecdotal experience provide some helpful guidance on how long edibles may be expected to produce a “high.” In this article, we will cover that subject from top to bottom including how long doe they take to kick in, how long they last, the different forms of edibles, the dosage, the benefits of edibles and more… Stay tuned and be ready to learn everything you need to know about “how long edibles last”!

How long will cannabis edibles last in your system?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

If you’ve ever eaten a marijuana brownie or cookie, you might have wondered how long the effects will last. The answer depends on a variety of factors, including how much you ate, your metabolism, your tolerance to THC and whether you’ve eaten anything else recently.

In general, the effects will peak after two to three hours, note that it is not the same peak as when smoking, it is smoother, not really going up and down but more consistent. On average you will stay high for 4-6 hours depending on the dosage you took and other factors listed above.

Some people report feeling the effects for much longer – up to 12 hours or more. If you “over-dose” it you might feel the effect for as long as 24hours. So if you’re planning to medicate with edibles, it’s best to start with a small dose and see how you feel before consuming more. And remember, it’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to weed. With marijuana, the effects can last much longer than expected, so it’s important to be prepared.

How long does it take for edibles to kick in?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”14854″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Generally, the effects of cannabis edibles typically kick in after 60-120 minutes. However, there is a lot of factors when it comes to the onset time, just as for the lasting effects of edibles. We will go in detail about that a bit further.

The amount of cannabinoids in an edible can affects how fast it will kick in, especially with potent edibles.

Edibles are made with either CBD or THC, and each compound has different effects. CBD is known for its non-psychoactive effects, while THC is associated with the “high”, the psychoactive effects. Consequently, it will be harder for you to identify when CBD products will kick in.

But you should not worry much about CBD as it does not make much difference if you take 10mg or 50mg. You will feel exactly the same. The danger is more with THC edibles, this is why people need to have the correct information before eating them.

    Which Edibles kick In Faster?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”14823″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Edibles can come in many different forms, including candy, cookies, and brownies. Certain types of edibles, such as hard candies, tinctures, and lollipops, are absorbed sublingually which is a faster way to get into the bloodstream. As a result, these types of edibles tend to kick in much faster than other types of edibles.

    Which Weed Edibles Affect Slow?

The onset time for chewable edibles, such as gummies and brownies is often longer than other forms because they first enter your digestive tract before being metabolized by enzymes. The process takes place within our bodies’ organs- including the liver which releases ingredients back into blood circulation once processing has been completed! This is why it can take up to 2 hours!

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Factors that Affect Onset time & Duration

There are some other factors that may affect how long it takes for an edible to kick in.

    • Diet: A person’s diet can also affect how long it takes for an edible to kick in. For example, if you eat a high-fat meal before consuming an edible, it will take longer for the effects to be felt because fat slows down the digestion and consequently the absorption of THC. In contrast, if you consume an edible on an empty stomach, the effects may be felt more quickly because there is nothing else for your body to process.
    • Metabolism: Everyone metabolizes cannabis differently. Some people may feel the effects of an edible within 30 minutes, while others may not feel anything for several hours. The speed at which your body metabolizes THC also depends on how often you consume cannabis. If you are a first-time user, it is likely that the effects will last longer than if you are a regular user. This is because your body is not used to processing THC and it will take longer to break down the compound.
    • Age: Age can also play a role in how quickly an edible kicks in. Young adults and older adults tend to metabolize cannabis more slowly than adults. This is because THC is broken down by a liver enzyme that decreases with age. As a result, it takes longer for the effects of an edible to be felt in older adults and young people. We are not promoting drugs for young people, just stating the facts. Edibles just like marijuana should only be taken when legal age is reached in your province
    • Weight: Cannabis affects people of all sizes and weights differently. In general, larger people tend to feel fewer effects than smaller people at similar dosages. If you want to check the difference check our Edible Dosage Chart by Weight.
    • Tolerance To Cannabis edibles: People who regularly consume cannabis edibles may develop a tolerance to the effects. This means that they will need to consume more of the edible to feel the same effects as they did when they first started using it. If you think you have developed a tolerance to cannabis edibles, it is important to speak to your doctor or a medical professional.

    Do edibles expire?

Some people are wondering “how long do edibles take to expire”. It all depends on the kind of edible and the ingredient used inside. For example, gummies can last up to six months if stored properly.

However, if your edibles contain perishable items like dairy, they will only last a week in the fridge and a few months in the freezer. As you can see, there are many factors that can affect how long your edibles will last. If you’re unsure, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and consume them sooner rather than later.

    • “Best if used by” date: when in doubt, check the packaging for a “best if used by” date. This is usually a good indicator of when your edibles will start to turn bad.
    • Storage tips, to extend the shelf life of your edibles, follow these storage tips: tore them in a cool, dark place, wrap them tightly in aluminum foil or plastic wrap, place them in an airtight container. Finally, if you’re storing edibles made with perishable ingredients, be sure to keep them in the fridge or freezer.

    Will it turn bad?

If stored properly, your edibles should be fine to consume even after their “best by” date. However, they may not have the same consistency or delicious taste as they were when they were first made.

Will it keep its potency over time?

Cannabis edibles and the THC inside degrade over time, but it will be a slow process. However, if they’re stored properly, they should keep a relatively similar THC content as it was in the first place. The potency will remain the same for 3 to 6 months and after that potency will decrease, but still make you high!

The most important when it comes to edibles turning bad are the ingredients inside not the THC itself. After all it is simply food with a little bit (or a lot) or THC in it!

    Which edibles last longer?

The edibles that last longer are the hardcandies. These edibles can last up to a year if stored properly.

How Much Edibles Should you take?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”14526″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

If you’re new to cannabis edibles, it’s important to start slow. A good rule of thumb is to start with a dose of 10 mg THC and wait at least two hours before consuming more. Remember, it takes longer for the effects of an edible to kick in than smoking or vaping weed. So don’t be tempted to take more just because you don’t feel anything right away. If you’re not sure how much THC is in a particular edible, ask your dispensary or check the product’s label.

And as always, it’s important to speak to your doctor or a medical professional before consuming cannabis – especially if you’re taking other medications.

    How to read the label?

The label on a cannabis edible can tell you a lot about the product, including the amount of THC it contains. It’s important to pay attention to the serving size and the THC content so you know how much of the product to consume. For example, if an edible is labelled as having 10 mg THC per serving, and you want to consume a 20 mg dose, you would need to eat two servings.

    THC Levels Dosing

It’s tough to give a specific edibles dosage because you can consume them in so many different ways. However, with respect to your whole body weight, we’ve made a preliminary estimate.

The dosage for THC depends on the person’s weight. For a beginner, the recommended dose is 5-10mg. For an intermediate, the dose is 20-30mg. And for an expert, the dose is 50-100mg. For someone who weighs 120 pounds or 54 kg, the recommended dose is 5mg.

For someone who weighs 140 pounds or 63.5 kg, the dose is 9mg. And for someone who weighs 160 pounds or 72.5 kg, the recommended dose is 10mg.

THC can have different effects on people, depending on their weight and experience level. Beginners may feel euphoric and relaxed, while experts may feel more sedated. Ultimately, it is important to start with a low dose and increase gradually as needed.

The Table below can give you a more clear understanding of what THC level dosage might be right for you! For more about dosage check Edible Dosage Chart by Weight & THC mg.

    CBD Dosing

When it comes to CBD dosing, weight and severity of symptoms you try to treat are the most important factors to consider. The general rule of thumb is that the heavier you are, the more CBD you will need to take in order to experience the desired effects. For example, if you weigh 120 pounds, you will likely need 10mg of CBD to experience relief from mild symptoms.

However, if you weigh 200 pounds, you may need up to 30mg of CBD to achieve the same results. However, taking into account your weight is a good place to start when trying to determine how much CBD you should take.

    The recommended dosage for:

    • Anxiety: 300mg–600 milligrams a day
    • Select forms of epilepsy: Start at 2.5 milligrams per kilogram of the person’s body weight twice daily
    • Central neuropathic and cancer-related pain: A maximum of 30 milligrams a day
    • Opioid addiction: 400-800 milligrams a day
    • Arthritis: max 30 milligrams a day, or 250 milligrams applied topically

Of course, everyone is different and there is no definitive answer when it comes to CBD dosing. Most people start at a dose somewhere between 20 – 40 mg per day. We recommend experimenting through 10mg intervals until you find what works best for you!

    Benefits of Cannabis Edibles

Cannabis edibles offer a number of potential benefits, including:

    • They’re easy to dose. Unlike smoking or vaporizing cannabis, it’s easy to control the amount of THC you consume when you eat an edible. This can be helpful if you’re trying to avoid becoming too intoxicated.
    • They offer long-lasting relief. Edibles tend to offer longer-lasting relief than other methods of consumption, such as smoking. This is because they’re absorbed into the bloodstream through the digestive system, which takes longer than the lungs.
    • They’re discreet. Edibles are easy to consume without anyone knowing. This can be helpful if you want to medicate in public without drawing attention to yourself.
    • They’re tasty. Edibles come in a variety of flavours, so you can enjoy the taste as well as the effects.

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Cannabis is now legal in Canada. People are getting more and more into edibles because it’s healthier and discreet alternative to smoking weed. You can make all sorts of different edibles, from brownies, cookies, chocolates or gummy bears. If you are looking for specific edible recipes please check our blog.

Cannabis edibles are a great way to consume cannabis. They are discreet, and you can control the dosage by how much you eat. In this article we will go over two ways to make cannabis edibles:

    • Using the flowers (for advanced), is the traditional way to do it but it is also the more time-consuming and less accurate way to craft your cannabis treat. Dosage is harder to control with this method.
    • Using concentrates such as distillate (for beginners) is probably the easiest way for you to start making your own edibles. Concentrates have an accurate THC content and it does not need to go through decarboxylation and infusion process.

In this article, we will walk you through both methods so that you can choose the one that is best for you! Making the perfect edibles require a certain amount of knowledge, both of cooking and marijuana. To get the perfect potency, it is important to understand how to decarboxylate cannabis if using your own weed. If you choose concentrate-based edibles you will have to figure out the right dosage.

So you want to make edibles? We’ve got the perfect recipe and instructions on how. It’s not as simple as buying brownie mix, adding crumbled weed on top and putting it in the oven. But don’t worry – we’ll help guide you through the whole process of making your own edibles!

How to use Weed to make edibles?

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”7148″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

    The items you need

So you have weed at home and want to bake your edibles! That’s a good start. Many people find that they are more at ease handling the marijuana aspect than actually cooking up some THC-infused edibles! If you’re looking to make edibles, weed potency should not be your number one focus. The most important is to start with quality ingredients and the proper kitchen utensils. The goal should be getting quality ingredients that will make your edibles delicious.

    Ingredients

Choose high-quality chocolate, dark chocolate is your way to go. Anything between 70% and 85% will work just fine. If you can find a good brand like Callebaut or Guittard it’s even better (it is actually the brand we use for our own edibles).

Pick up six large eggs, coconut oil or two sticks of unsalted butter (depending on your preferences), vanilla extract, sugar, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and regular salt. Basically, the ingredients to bake the classic home brownie

    Utensils

You’ll also need a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, a weed grinder food processor, a wooden spoon, cheesecloth and a double-boiler, or a make-shift double boiler (such as a glass pyrex bowl or stainless steel bowl perched on top of a saucepan with water below)

Now that you have everything handy let’s learn how to make edibles so they can turn into delicious space cake!

    Choose the right strain

    [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”10812″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Making your own cannabis edibles can be a fun and cost-effective way to get high. However, choosing the wrong strain can lead to an unpleasant experience. Picking the right strain for edibles is important, as it depends on your mood and the social situation you are planning. Even though weed can impact everyone differently, here are some tips to help you choose the right strain!

Sativa dominant strains like Super Lemon Haze, Durban Poison, Jack Herer tend provide an energetic high perfect for daytime use.

Indicas like Bubba Kush, Granddaddy Purple, and Northern are better for relaxation and sleep at night.

If you have a strain that you love and that gives you the effect you are looking for you should do edibles with it. This way you know what to expect. If that is the case don’t worry much about Sativa or Indica.

    Decarboxylation

    [/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYEQaTG0WX8″ align=”center” image_poster_switch=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

The reason why marijuana is most commonly smoked rather than eaten has to do with the THC molecule. THCA is an inactive form of cannabis’ most prominent cannabinoid. This non-psychoactive acid occurs in the trichomes that cover fresh marijuana plants and individual dried flowers within it; however, this also means you can’t get high off THca by itself!

THC is the psychotropic or active version of the same cannabinoid. When you smoke weed, the THCA compounds are rapidly heated and changed into THC which gives you the “high effect”.

The process of decarboxylation (also known as “decarb”) is what transforms raw cannabis into an enhanced, potent form. In more scientific terms; it changes the chemical structure of various cannabinoid compounds found in plants – including THC!

    Decarboxylate Cannabis in your oven:

    1. Preheat the oven to 250°F, and be aware that this will make your house smell strongly of weed for a few hours. You’ve been warned!
    2. Break up your weed buds into smaller pieces and place it on a cookie sheet. Make sure that the cannabis is nicely spread; this is important because you want everything to be toasted evenly.
    3. Now, heat the cannabis until it’s decarboxylated at 250°F for 25-30 minutes. You could also use a lower temperature and longer cooking time if you want more of those precious terpenes! Once the process is done your weed should look golden brown as opposed to the original green.
    4. After toasting the weed, let it cool before putting it in a food processor and pulse for a few seconds so that you have ground it coarsely.

    Infuse in Oil or Butter

    [/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Stv6RlbWhO8″ align=”center” image_poster_switch=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]

Now that your weed is active, it is time to make your Cannabis Oil or Cannabutter. Once this step is done you will be able to cook and bake easily with it. There are many ways to achieve this infusion, however, we’ve selected the easiest and fastest way for you. We don’t want to add some complicated steps to this already long process. Let’s see how to infuse your decarboxylate cannabis into Oil:

    1. Add water to the bottom pan of your double-boiler. Now add the amount of coconut oil that you need for your recipe to the top section of the double-boiler. Heat until it melts.
    2. Stir in the desired amount of decarboxylated cannabis, according to your dosage preferences into the melted oil.
    3. Continue to heat the cannabis and oil over low heat for 30 to 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.  We aim for a target temperature range of around 130 to 150°F, use a probe thermometer to check the temperature. Make sure that the oil stays below 200°F.
    4. When time is up, line a strainer with cheesecloth and place it over a glass bowl. Pour the cannabis mixture through this fabric, gathering up all of those lovely oils that have been released! Gently squeeze the cheesecloth to extract all of that extra oil from your cannabis. Be careful as the oil will be hot, we advise that you wear kitchen gloves for that part.
    5. Transfer the cannabis-infused oil into a glass jar. Your oil should be stored in a cool dark location, a refrigerator is a good option.

Now that you have your Cannabis oil ready you simply have to follow your classic brownie recipe. You have to be cautious about the dosage, please read below and everything will be fine.

How much cannabis is necessary for edibles?

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”12754″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]Well, it all depends on your tolerance to Cannabis and THC. If you are not familiar with edible dosage we recommend that you take a look at our edible dosage chart by weight. For beginners, we recommend 10mg THC per serving, which is enough to get you high but you will still be in control of the situation. Always wait at least two hours before taking more edibles as it takes time to kick in!

Now you need to calculate how many milligrams of THC your weed has. According to Weedmaps: “On average weed strains, have around 15-20% THC. That means, for every gram of dried flowers you have between 150mg and 200mg. Consequently, if you make a recipe with 1gram of weed you should have between 15 and 20 serving whether it is Cookies or Brownies.”

How to use Concentrates to make edibles?

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”12771″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]Cannabis concentrates are a new type of cannabis products with high level of THC. You can make them using different techniques. The most popular way to make them is by using solvents such as butane, ethanol, propane and CO². One of the advantages of concentrate is that it comes with an accurate THC content, for example, Distillate usually comes at 90% Of THC. Meaning that you have a lot more control over the dosage for your edibles. Concentrates are also widely available in Canada and the US making it easy to order it online.

Some of the most popular cannabis concentrates are shatter, wax, live resin and Distillate. When it comes to edibles the most popular concentrate to use is Distillate. The distillate has a big advantage because it does not need to decarboxylate, it already has active THC in it. According to Wikileaf edible-making process is much easier and faster when using Distillate.

The best way to avoid the cannabis smell? Distillate! Whether you share kitchen space with roommates or want the perfect treat for yourself, there are many advantages when making edibles using this versatile product.

    Use Distillate for your Edibles

Once you purchased you THC Distillate making infused edibles is really as simple as adding the extract to your oil or butter at a low temperature. Here is the breakdown for making distillate infused edibles below:

    1. Loosen the distillate by submerging the container in warm water.
    2. When the mixture is no longer sticky, measure out the amount you require.
    3. Pour the distillate into your oil or melted butter (the amount needed for your recipe)
    4. To assure thorough incorporation, constantly stir the mixture while it’s heating. When heating, keep under 300°F to maintain cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds.
    5. Once your Distillate has been completely dissolved in the oil you can combine all ingredients together and bake the the mix like it is a regular one.

How much concentrates should you use?

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”11756″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]That depends entirely on your experience level and what you plan to use your edibles for. If you are new to concentrates, we recommend starting with a lower dosage. Make sure to check our dosage chart by weight before making your edibles with concentrates.

You can easily calculate the dosage per serving. Here’s an example:

If your distillate contains 90% THC, one gram if it will contain 900 milligrams of THC (1000mg x 0.9 – 900mg). For reference, Canada limits the THC content of edibles to 10per serving in Licensed stores. If you follow this recommendation, you could use one gram of distillate to make 90 individual weed gummies.

Benefits of using Distillate for edibles

    • Easier and faster than infusing oil with weed as you don’t have to decarb it.
    • Dosage accuracy, as it comes around 90% THC you can safely measure the amount of distillate you need for your batch of brownies, cookies or gummies.
    • No Cannabis flavour or smell.

    CBD Edibles

CBD products also come in Edible shapes such as gummies, chocolates etc… When it comes to CBD, many people find that eating a CBD edible is more convenient than smoking or taking it sublingually.

Note that edibles have a delayed effect. This could be because the food takes longer than just seconds before its effects are felt and may require 2 hours for full manifestation so do not evaluate yourself until then! When shopping for CBD, always read the label and check how many MG is actually in one edible.

    Health benefits of CBD

CBD is one of the cannabinoids found in cannabis plants. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a psychoactive effect. This means that CBD does not get you high.

    • CBD has been shown to have many health benefits. Some of these benefits include:
    • reducing anxiety and depression
    • relieving pain, and reducing inflammation (joint pain and arthritis).
    • reducing symptoms of chronic illnesses such as epilepsy or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
    • Improving sleep

The main reason why CBD has health benefits is because of what it does in your body. CBD binds to certain receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a network of neurons and receptors that are responsible for maintaining the body’s homeostasis. When CBD binds to receptors in the ECS, it helps to keep the body in balance. This is why CBD is thought to be beneficial for a variety of health conditions.

Where can you buy CBD in Canada?

There are many CBD manufacturers accessible online if you’re searching for a fast and easy method to acquire CBD. However, be cautious about each brand before buying. While pure, genuine CBD is safe, counterfeited and low-quality goods can be dangerous.

At BC Weed Edible we carry all sorts of CBD products such as gummies, chocolates, tinctures and more. We only use the best CBD Isolate available in Canada, which has over 99.7% of CBD content.
